Okay, Squatch Nation. We just caught wind of a legend slinking its way through Flowood—and no, it’s not just another GPS-tracking mishap. WJTV’s Daily 'Sip dropped a video clip called “The Squatch Man of Flowood”, and our giant fuzzy radar went off fast. SOURCE: CLICK HERE
If you drive down Flowood Drive and Liberty Road in Flowood, Mississippi, you might do a double take. There, in the front yard of a modest home, a troop of metal silhouettes stands in mid‑stride. They aren’t yard gnomes or scarecrows. They’re Bigfoot—ten-foot steel renditions frozen in motion, a tribute to one man’s lifelong fascination
That man is Earl Mangrum, a Flowood resident who says he’s seen a sasquatch more than once. To him, the sculptures aren’t yard art; they’re homages. “I’ve been following them for years,” he told WJTV. “They do exist. They are around. A lot of people believe in them. Of course, I do. I’ve seen them”. His belief isn’t whispered behind closed doors—he’s literally planted it on his front lawn.

A Yard as a Beacon for Believers
Earl’s property looks out over three miles of woods that stretch all the way to the Spillway at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. That unbroken green belt is where he says he’s glimpsed sasquatches “here and there” in his neighborhood. Instead of keeping that secret to himself, he decided to turn his fascination into something tangible. The result? A quirky roadside attraction that’s started drawing visitors from all over. Earl says folks frequently stop by to snap photos or chat about sightings. He recently met a couple from nearby Madison who identified themselves as fellow believers. He laughed as he admitted the silhouettes are as much for him as they are for passersby; collecting them has become a hobby—one that lets him stay connected to the creature he swears he’s seen.
Voices From the Woods
Earl isn’t the only person in Flowood whispering about Bigfoot. While walking the same patch of woods, local resident Ken Parks recounted an eerie night when he and a friend heard something they couldn’t explain. “There is somethin’ over there,” he said. “It’s twice we’ve heard something that was not… I mean, the list of things you hear in the woods is very short. This was something with a big pair of lungs and [it] projected. And he covered ground”. Ken’s description—deep, resonant, and quick-moving—fits the mold of classic Bigfoot lore. He doesn’t claim to have seen a creature, but whatever he heard spooked him enough to tell a reporter about it.
Why Stories Like This Matter
The story of Flowood’s Squatch Man is more than just a fun roadside oddity. It’s a reminder of how local legends take on a life of their own. Earl’s sincerity invites others to share their own experiences. His yard, covered in metal giants, has become an unofficial community forum. Some folks might roll their eyes; others—like that couple from Madison—come away feeling validated.
For us at Media Squatch, tales like Earl’s keep our creative fires burning. We’re fascinated by everyday people who transform their belief in Bigfoot into art, community, or conversation. Earl’s story reminds us that Bigfoot isn’t just an Appalachian myth; it’s alive and well in the suburbs of Mississippi, in the stories told on back porches and the silhouettes that spring up beside mailbox posts.
